Founded in 1992, B+W Specialty Coffee was built on a simple mission: roast the finest coffees on earth with integrity. We support our coffee house partners with expert roasting, in-house training workshops, an expert service department, and a wide selection of equipment and supplies—maintaining a standard of excellence that sets us apart.

Our History

B+W Specialty Coffee began in 1992 in Northeast Minneapolis when Alex Woehrlin launched a small local roasting venture. Over the decades, B+W has grown into a trusted community resource—providing coffee, training, equipment, repairs, and support to cafés throughout the region.

Today

Alex continues as a consultant, ensuring every coffee meets the standards that built our reputation. Today, B+W is proudly owned by long-time friend and business partner Wenn Townsend and her husband Steve Mattek. They aim to carry the brand forward with the same dedication to quality, craft, and community.
